J. Cole has been long rumored to accept secretly wednesday his longtime girlfriend Melissa Heholt and has a newborn child with her.

This is the first time that the platinum-selling rapper is opening up about the rumors, pretty much confirming that he has a kid. The Dreamville emcee has been notorious in keeping his life private which makes this interview with The New York Times all the more interesting. The interview comes alee of the premiere of his J. Cole: four Your Eyez Only documentary on HBO.

One of the things that he broke his silence about was that fact that he had a child at present even though he didn't reveal the gender or historic period. J. Cole also spoke about not getting caught up with the other side of fame like the money cars and women. "The other side, it's what we abound up assertive that nosotros demand and want. It's everybody'south dream," he says. "Who doesn't want the selection of the litter on this, that and the 3rd? Money, women, cars. And across all of that — which I really wasn't into — praise…Information technology's addictive. To recognize it, it was the start step. I had to recognize, well, where's the fear coming from?"

The story as well touches on J. Cole having control of his main recordings for his new album 4 Your Eyez Only which is now certified platinum. The Roc Nation rapper besides spoke about non paying attention to the competition and non trying too hard to score a hit song, rather than just focusing on making the best music he possibly can. "Trying to testify that I could do something that they don't retrieve I can, it was a very sad place when I look back," he added. "I understand that what I'grand doing is what I don't see, is what I would similar to encounter beingness done but is not being done."

J. Coles album 4 Your Eyez Only had the 3rd highest debuts in 2022 after selling 492,000 copies in the first week.
